Gene Hackman’s relentless dedication to his craft not only shaped my love for movies but also reminded me that great storytelling is about showing up and doing the work.
A loving tribute. Greatness personified - back to last week’s SAG theme. It is about the work. Loved hearing about your connection to film through your dad, too! Our parents /caregivers play a vital role in shaping and forming our appreciation for the power of film and those we admire.
Beautiful article! Well said. 👌🏼 Gene Hackman had a rare gift—he made every character feel real, never acting but simply becoming. His presence on screen was unforgettable.
Blessings for this powerful and honest tribute. RIP Mr. Gene Hackman and robin Williams and all who faced adversity whether in role or life may their lives naught be in vain. May more actors be authentic…
Aw, I felt this too. When Robin Williams died, I had to watch The Bicentennial Man again. I might have to watch Birdcage again to see both great actors - Gene Hackman playing it straight was truly special. The versatility of Gene Hackman's acting skills meant I could never decide whether I disliked or liked him because I became so attached to each 'baddie' and 'good' character he portrayed. There was nothing formulaic in his craft or film choice. Thanks for crafting this personal tribute.
